artist info . . . aka: blah blah blah
Carrin Welch has loved making art since high school, where she attended Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. She studied at The University of Texas at Austin, Austin Community College, and School for the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, as well as various workshops. Initially focusing on Printmaking, throughout the years she has also become skilled in costume design, painting, graphic design, and wood sculpture.
Her largest and most well known project is The Four Rocking Horses of the Apocalypse, which was completed in 2015. She is currently looking for unique opportunities to allow the grown ups to experience the childlike joy of that an adult sized rocking horse can provide. Other works include a companion series to the rocking horses called Ancestors and Artifacts, and her gun inspired Sneaky Gun Jewelry is available for purchase through ChickaBomb.
Carrin grew up in Dallas, has lived in New York City, Boston, New Orleans, and Nashville. She has travelled all over the US and a bit of Europe. All of those places offered inspiration, but Austin is home, where she lives with her husband Brian. She is a creator = artist, crafter, performer, seamstress, traveller, sometimes troublemaker, and worked in the tv & film industry for 10+ years - recently shifting focus to media management and marketing.
